Default Blc Toshie’s Magic “Doris”

Got this beauty in the mail last week from a grower in Hawaii. Huge beautiful healthy specimen and as a completely unexpected surprise it was in bud!! A few days later and two blooms opened with two more on the way. Grower says it blooms about every 3 months in Hawaii. Here’s hoping I can squeak out 2 times per year in Chicago. And she’s fragrant! Pleasant floral perfume. Wow.

South-facing window. No sheer curtain in winter, but will likely need one come spring ...

This is a highly variable hybrid.

One DCOS member brought one to the show table, which only set 2 flowers on each inflorescence.

I had one (lost in the freeze 2 years ago), which set up to 7 flowers on each inflorescence. The presentation was a bit crowded, but it was a deep yellow and had an intensely deep purple lip. I bred it once, and by the end of January I will have some seedlings available.

I think mine just makes 2 flowers per inflorescence, as well! It has a couple growths that are making flowers right now, so it will have two more flowers opening up this week. Seven sounds heavenly. I love the fragrance!

That’s so exciting you have seedlings of your seven flower wonder!!

I will be on the lookout for one of these. My Mum's name was Doris.
It a beautiful bloom and fragrant too, excellent.
Ive already got a couple of plants that have the Toshie prefix so hopefully this one wont be too hard hard to find.

Yes it is.....however I was trying to imply to those that dont know me personally that she passed away.
That way if they made a comment in the present tense, such as
"Im sure she will be happy to see that"
My response saying she had passed away wouldn't make them feel awful.

That is a nice sentiment, Diane! I got mine from Kaleialoha Orchids and I couldn’t recommend them more. Huge healthy beautiful plants. I ordered two Catt hybrids (Doris, and a Blc Primera Morada) that absolutely knocked my socks off.
