A couple of the ones I sent you recently were done like that... I snipped off the leading growth, and left the rest in the pot to start a new growth. It's a good technique when you want to share a plant, but don't want the hassle of unpotting and dividing. And with growing in LECA, it's not too hard to wriggle out the cut part while keeping pressure on the part of the rhizome you're leaving in the pot.
That's kind of like a gardening hack (pun intended)... should have added it to your garden hack thread.

I think that second blooming of #1 with the higher light intensity is my favorite, so far. Super nice color contrast.
