A lovely 1960 Hybrid. Most likely a cut flower corsage orchid. I like those forward falling petals from Cattleya mossiae.

Nice! Reminds me of the Mem. Crispin Rosales. This Chicago 'Scott Off' appears to fly under-the-radar in online searches.

Yep, registered in 1960. It has a lot of trianiae, mossiae, warczewiczii, and dowiana in it.

I’ve come to appreciate some of these old fashioned hybrids. They may not be up to today’s judging standards, but they have a beauty all their own.

Thanks Ray. I made a short attempt to trace it in the RHS orchid register area - but my attempts seem futile --- maybe because their database might not be working right now. The site gives really basic instructions on putting down some words, even giving hints such as using a % symbol for wildcard words (partial name). But whatever words I put it comes up with 'no match' (for any orchid!!!). Either their data-base is out of action right now, or they might need to ask an I.T. person to help update their 'possibly' 1980's plant searching software!

You can find it in Orchid Roots (used to be Blue Nanta). It's a great reference tool.

Thanks very much fishmom. I think I'll use this orchid roots for looking up info instead now - at least until they upgrade the RHS search engine system, which is surprisingly in not a very good state (or so it seems). I was initially thinking that the RHS register would be the official go-to site. But it doesn't appear to work (at all) on many occasions.

That's a stunning bloom. Many of those "old school" corsage cattleyas were, in my opinion, much nicer than today's hybrids. And the fact that many of them are substantial plants when they reach adulthood just adds to their attraction for me. There's something about compact and miniature cattleyas that doesn't really appeal to me.

Congratulations on your plant's blooms. They are outstanding. If you ever want to trade (or sell) a piece of it some day, please send me a private post.
