I was surprised to find an inflorescence coming out of the basket late November last year, for I thought Gongoras are spring bloomers. The flower stalk grew longer and longer and the flower buds got larger and larger...like lots of tiny balloons. I bought this in the last spring, around March I think.
If it's a typical Gongora you won't be waiting long! However you won't be enjoying it for too long either, as none of mine have ever had a flower make it to the 2 week point. Of the species I've grown, G.galeata and G.rufescens are summer/fall bloomers, and the only spring bloomer I managed to flower was G. fulva. Hopefully the G. portentosa I got late last summer goes this upcoming spring!
