Stanhopea hybrids to look for?
Default Stanhopea hybrids to look for?

Everyone knows about the famous Oncidium and cattleya alliance hybrids, are there any very notable Stanhopea hybrids or is mostly about the species?

There are some Stan hybrids between the species, but they generally don't seem to be more attractive than the species, in my opinion. There are only a small handful of folks working these crosses.

Fred Clarke has started working with Acineta x Stanhopea hybrids, with some pretty interesting results.

Coryhopeas exist, but they incredibly ugly if you ask me.

Ah neat, I didn't know about those.

Followup: are there any stanhopea species that flower more than once a year?

Edit:

In my search I also found some Paphinia x Stanhopea crosses, which are quite beautiful:

The large Stans and Gongoras I used to grow in Hawaii would bloom throughout the summer.
