Catasetum pileatum
My plant is spiking - but from a new, immature growth. Everything I read says that spikes develop from a mature bulb. Now I'm wondering if I have a pileatum. Is spiking from a developing growth possible with pileatum?

Seems odd, but is always possible. Is this a second growth for the year? Or is the bulb nearing maturity?

The spike is off a small growth that started a couple of months ago.
