In a different thread, you mentioned having a Paphinia that was not doing great for you. You might try using a terrarium. I've had mine for quite a few years now. (Actually got it from Oakhill back in the day when Greg was hitting the shows for Herrman.) Blooms sporadically for me.
Had to do this as link as I don't currently have an online photoalbum.
Good to see someone speaking of Oakhill. They had great plants and I miss them. Have tried my hand with Paphinias with no success and a terrarium set-up is not for me,but I'll try again. Bloom reminds me of a red starfish and other varieties are stunning as well.
I grew Paphinia Majestic when I lived in Honolulu and it wasn't easy. It would go through these periods where it dropped leaves and then would perk up, even though it was growing next to my Stanhopeas. Flowers are pretty though. Paphinia Majestic 5-28-2009 by Stephen Van Kampen-Lewis, on Flickr
Paul, that looks great! Mine is starting a new growth...i've increased the waterimg and moved it to a cooler spot that is also a little less bright and I hope the new growth does well. A terrarium obviously would be a good solution but I can't accommodate that. I've been in contact with Andy (where I got it) and he suggested a bell jar, or something similar...i might try that, if I ever think of looking for one.
