My impression from reading here on Orchid Board is that they are not hard to grow if kept warm enough at all times, and wet enough. Most people don't keep them warm enough.
I just bought a seedling Coryanthes macrantha from Hausermann's. After doing reading here on Orchid Board I decided I could give it what it needs.
There is an extensive message by Manfred Busche regarding their care buried in a thread on Coryanthes started by another member.
You can easily find it using the Search function in the top maroon menu bar. Choose Advanced Search. In the left box put Coryanthes and in the right box put Busche. Uncheck the box that says something like Exact Name Match. You will find all threads containing the word Coryanthes and posts by Manfred.
I keep a text file for each plant group interesting me. When I read something I consider useful or interesting, I copy the text to the file, along with the URL. I organize the files alphabetically by genus.
I started doing this when I realized really great information often disappears completely from the Internet, and may not be found on the Internet Archive
Internet Archive: Digital Library of Free Books, Movies, Music & Wayback Machine . By the way, I have used the Internet Archive to retrieve orchid information that once existed on still-current Web sites, but has now been removed.
It is legal under US law, for personal use, to make a single copy or extract of copyright works broadcast to the public, but it is not legal to transfer these copies to others. It would not be legal under US copyright laws for me to sell my compilation files, nor even to make them available to others. One cannot distribute a compilation of extracts from others' copyright works. But everybody can start doing it themselves.
So, yes, in my Orchids.txt file I do have a listing for Coryanthes, and I do have the URL to Manfred's post, and I do have his text. But I'm one of those mean teachers who won't spoon-feed. LOL
