Cycnodes Wine Delight
First time flowering for this plant. I was surprised since the growth wasn't that big.
It has a medicinal/black pepper scent. I think it is my favourite coloured bloom I have.

I felt the same way when mine bloomed. Small growth, big flowers.

Beautiful blooms, and an even more beautiful photo that really brings out the best in those blooms, well done. I intend to branch out into the catasetinae in the spring, and this is one of the hybrids I was considering. Now I know that I want it!

Beautiful! Don't expect it to stay small though. I just sold mine and after several years and multiple divides...it was about 3 feet tall, in leaf. I loved it but I didn't want to accommodate such a large plant any longer. If the blooms lasted longer and I didn't have to battle spider mites every fall...i might still have it. It is an easy grower and reliable bloomer...it was mature enough that most years it produced 3 or 4 spikes. Loved the fragrance...kind of a cherry cough medicine smell.

My Taiwan Gold is probably about 2 feet tall this year and had four spikes and I thought that was big. Can't wait until this one reaches epic proportions.
