Default Ctsm. Frilly Doris 'SVO II' x Ctsm. spitzii

This plant was purchased in Feb. 2017 when Fred Clarke spoke to our OS. The lip is not as "frilly" as I had hoped for, but there is a nice citrus fragrance and the lip is very flat. The blooms are a bit past prime; they don't seem to be lasting very long. I thought I had plenty of time to get a photo, as they only came out a week ago.

That's a pity the blooms don't last that long.

Yes, I agree, jcec1. One of the more experienced growers in my OS suggested that as the plant matures, the blooms may last longer. I don't know about this, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Very nice for a first bloom! I believe this cross is registered as Ctsm. JimD, strange I know. As far as longevity, a week is a long time for Ctsm. to be at their prime, with male flowers anyways. It takes a whole lot of energy to keep those triggers functional!

Hmm. Now I wonder if it was mislabeled. The Blue Nanta picture is so very white, not green like mine, and the lip is very "shaggy"--is fimbriate the correct term? Maybe I will send a picture to Fred some time and see what he says.

And thanks for the correct name!

It sure does. But there can be a lot of difference between seedlings, right? Anyway, I was hoping for more frills!
