A new SVO cross, Cycnoches Anne-Katrin Bergman 'SVO' x pentadactylon 'Pteradactyl'. Large, deeply coloured blossoms with a gracefull form, clear spotting, sweet medicine scent and contrasting cream to white lip. Very nice.

Wow that's stunning, I don't know what it's called but I love the curly part under the lip. The blooms look like little angels.

It is easy to understand how this group came to be referred to as the swan orchids. As you probably know, kyknos means swan in Greek (yes, pronounce the 'c' hard, like a 'k': kik-no-kez) The gracefully curved column swaying down like the birds neck is particularly well developed in the Cycnoches pentadactylon group (Section Heteranthae) (egertonianum, peruvianum, etc.). I find them more elegant than the more often noted Section Eucycnoches (chlorochilon, warscewiczii, ventricosum).

Apparently, Fred Clarke (hybridizer of this plant, owner of SVO) was looking for more yellow in the off-spring, but this colour combination has that certain something and the scent has improved every day to the point where its sweetness wafts through the entire livingroom by mid-afternoon. I've seen another of this cross blooming and it was narrower in segments, as well as more green-yellow. Also nice.

cheers,
Jamie

That's beautiful indeed!
Can you post a photo of the whole plant?

Took me a while to get to it, but, here it is. Mind you, this is still an immature plant and the p-bulbs may become twice this size in a year or two.
