Stan wardii - Winter rest
Hello, my friends
I'm not sure if it has a winter rest. From what I've read, it seems not. Do you confirm?
The room where I have it has no artificial cooling/heating so, when temps go down in winter, it stops growing.
I'm thinking about trying to change it this winter to a south faced room, indirect bright light, to see if it grows all year.
Do you think it's a good idea?

Bump
From my reading, it grows in areas with dry winters and in areas that are moist all year. Absent information from somebody who actually knows something, I would probably do what you are doing and reduce but not stop watering during cooler seasons.

Man,I love this genus. My info may be insignificant but I'll mention it anyway. Of the 3 that I "grow",2 are blooming(just 1-2 flowers on each) and the third is trying my patience. That one is jenishiana which requires a drier winter rest, which I think I provided. The other 2 are oculata and Assidensis X Ronsard. They are in the house on the edge of growlights all yr. Very simple set-up. They go outside when weather permits but when and if blooms occur,in they come as the fragrance is for me alone!

I want mine to grow as fast as possible... without killing it.

I would stop fertilizing and cut back on water in a few months. Here is some winter care advice from Nina Rach: Stanhopea Culture: Stanhopea Winter Culture Checklist

Thanks, Steve.
I believe this blog is by Robert Lauri and not Nina Rach.
I created this thread to understand if it is possible to make them grow all year by keeping the temps higher.
But I think all plants need, in one way or another, some rest.
