I have a Cyc. Golden Showers that has herrenhusanum as 1 parent. Mine is in the same stage as yours. I've never been able to get more than 1 new growth - the oldest bulb has always shriveled. See what happens to that older bulb. Keep it.
BTW - a tip. Don't remove all old roots in future. They help stabilise the bulb when replanting as they can be spread into the media.
I plant mine in a 50/50 moss/bark mix. This group more fussy about watering than media .
