Catasetum dormancy.
OK, here's another question.
I have two plants that were bought last year and for some reason they haven't gone dormant.
I see that Fred Clarke says if they aren't dormant by 1st of January, you should make them.
One has a new shoot as well.
So what harm does it do if they do not undergo dormancy?

No harm. If they want to stay awake, that ok. Just don't water until the new roots are looooong!

Wow. That was short, sharp and to the point.
Thanks.
That was presumably for the one with the shoot. For the one which has no new shoot, I assume that I just keep watering as per normal?

I can't speak to Catasetum specifically, but most plants that require a dormancy can do without it for a couple of growing seasons before they decline. It's quite possible the plant won't bloom until it gets a proper dormancy.

OK, so in short, hopefully by next year they should have sorted themselves out and undergo a proper dormancy then if not before, and I don't have to worry about skipping one.
Thanks for that.

If it has leaves and no shoots, go back and stop watering a month ago.

I would probably just stop watering all together.
