FDK After Dark Black Pearl ignoring the seasons...
Hi! I have an FDK After Dark Black Pearl which I bought in August. The vendor told me it had just finished flowering and was in dormancy. Didn't expect to see any action of angry kind until spring. Despite this, a couple of weeks later it threw out a new lead, and now looks like this:
Definitely wasn't expecting that.
My question is, how should I proceed with this? I'd normally be considering starting watering and fertilising with that size of growth, but at this time of year I'd normally be reducing the water some time soon.
My gut instinct tells me that if the plant is ignoring it's usual seasonal cycle, then I should, too... but just wanted to check with some other, more experienced growers first.

If it's growing, water and fertilize it.

I wonder where the plant came from. My two Fdk.s are blooming now, so yours were pretty early.
I agree--just go with the plant's cues and assume that it will eventually synch with your other catasetums--or not. They do seem to have minds of their own.

Thanks people, I was pretty sure that was the case, but this one was a little too expensive to not make sure first!
Fishmom, it has an SVO tag, so I know it was originally from there, but it arrived to me via a grower in central Mexico. Judging by its size, it was only there a short while, too, so I don't know why it's gone so far out of synch.
