Starting from scratch 1 orchid at a time
I lost everything last winter due to odd temperatures and a gnat infestation that took several well established non orchids including my grandmother 8+ yrs old hibiscus...
I just bought this catasetum on a whim and it's spikes are finishing off and the leaves have already dropped. However for $20.00 this plant is monstrous! I am looking forward to the possible growths this should produce. However is this plants sleep cycle off? I can't remember anymore!

It is a bit early for dormancy. It'll do its own thing and eventually get back to right, according to your conditions and seasonal cues. Good start though!

Here in texas it's continuing to pour and 80 degrees this week hideously humid. So I will leave it be and let it do its normal thing now even if I start watering again in February....lol!

Thanks cambriawhay, anonymouse, estacion sica, no-pro-mwa, and leaf mite!
The largest cane is 9 inches high and the second largest is 6.5 if I play my cards right I should have some beautiful growths this coming winter/spring.
