First bloom on this one! I love it!!!

That is seriously nice. I don't often like denticulatum or it's offspring, but this one is different. I like the green background behind the spots. I wonder if it will hold that green color as the blooms age. Let us know. What's the cross? It looks very 'SVO II' like.

I really like this one as well! The blooms opened on Thursday, so I'm thinking this is the final color. The cross is 'SVO' AM/AOS x 'Dark Spots.'

I had one of these from SVO awhile back but I killed it. Grew fine the first couple of years...even bloomed for me...and then it just died! The death is still a mystery to me because I don't typically have any trouble with this group. Seeing your pics makes me want to give it another try.

BTW - mine didn't bloom out as nicely colored as yours.

It's lovely. By the looks of the pot in your hand these are not as big as I thought. Some times I get a size in my head and unless the picture is shown in a hand you never can tell.

A lot of bang for the buck! Seems to be a manageable size and lovely.Do you think I will have luck with these since I just got my first Lyc. to bloom? Anyone?

I also had very good luck with this group when I grew them in Hawaii and managed to kill several denticulatums. To this day, I don't understand what I did wrong. However, this species is from the Amazon, so its dry season might be less harsh than other Catasetums. Fred Clarke will be here in August, so I'll pick his brain when I see him.

Yep, this species is very diminutive.

This is a tricky species, even for seasoned veterans. I'd say buy one with the expectation that it might not do well! There's only one way to find out if you can grow something!
