Stanhopea Chocolate Eyes
This is the second to open today, another of Doug Pulley's hybrids. It is (Mormon Pioneer X inodora) with a narcisus like fragrance.

Flowers are uncommon but beautiful. Makes remember an insect.
I heard the flowers last for 3 to 4 days only. Is it true?
I got a Stanhopea wardii as a gift. Something a litle more difficult, I think, from what I'm used to.
But I couldn't say no.
Can you tell us the conditions you are providing to get these beautiful flowers? Temp, % and light?

Oh man, I can't wait for my S. oculata to bloom. I hope it will do something this summer.
Your Chocolate Eyes is just gorgeous.

Three days is about average for a stanhopea. I have had them last a week if the temperature is in the low 50's
I grow under lights and outdoors in the summer. The indoor temp's are 58* to 70*. The lights are on for 12 hours and a fogger is on a timer off and on a number of times over 24 hours.

Perfect for me in winter.
In summer...humm, may rise to 28ºC indoors (lower 80's), that's the coolest I can get inside at summer.

Wonderful strange blooms. To bad they don't last longer.
