Some Catasetum species....
A few of my Ctsm species....
First up - Catasetum stevensonii - this is a small plant for the group and this was it's first season for blooming. I got a female spike first and then several weeks later it popped another spike that was male.
First - female flower -
Male flowers -
Mormodes skinneri (another favorite!) this one opens yellow and ages to white. It's a small plant that produces a lot of blooms. I had 4 spikes at this time and it's since pushed out 2 more spikes.
A shot of some showing the color difference -
Once all the flowers had been open a few days -
Catasetum sanguineum
I'm not a big fan of this flower but I like the upright spike so I keep it.
Cycnoches pentadactylon
Mormodes rolfeana
I had 2 spikes on it this year but they weren't open at the same time. This is the 2nd year that I've lost a couple of buds on each spike so the flower count isn't great but the flowers themselves are huge.

These are really incredible... their pbulbs and leaves are also really beautiful. I particularly like the cycnoches. Looks like you grow under lights? Or is that a sunroom with light outfitted shelves?

Thanks, guys! Glad you like them. It's a fun group, for sure.
u bada - I grow all my plants (orchids and others) under lights during the cold months (which is what you're seeing in the pics) and then outside during the warmer months.
I get my best growth w/the Ctsm once they go outside. The Ctsm sit in an area that gets some direct sun early in the day but is protected by shade cloth during the brunt of the mid-day.
Thanks for the kind comments everyone!
