The lifesaver for me (and my orchids) is a sprinkler system on a timer. (I can even take a vacation) During the summer, it is no problem to water every day (or up to three times per day, even). (and conveniently water early in the morning... I am not a morning person...) In the winter, just change the schedule as seems reasonable.
