Cycnoches warscewiczii x Swan Cascade
It's boy the second time!!!
This is rather an old update as the flowers were in November.
This plant gave me three or four female flowers back in September. Then it flowered again in November.
Very fragrant flowers!
I'm posting both sexes for comparison.
The first are male flowers. They are darker and with spots. I think the fragrance was about the same, but female flowers were larger and stronger scent? or that is how I remember. could just be in my mind.
I prefer male flowers with the longer neck.

Really quite attractive. Cycnoches warscewiczii seems to be a very good parent when it comes to passing on the genes for incredible fragrance, plant vigor and ease of flowering. Congratulations on your wonderful blooms.

Nice! I'm with you...I much prefer the male flowers. At least w/the Cycnoches you don't get the green helmets like most Catasetum females but the males, w/their swan necks, are still much prettier. To me anyway.
Good job w/it!
Did you also notice how long the females last? My Swan Cascade female spike lasted about 2 months this past summer. Maybe even a little over 2 months. The male lasted longer than many in this family but it wasn't 2 months.

The female flowers lasted almost 2 months.
The male flowers last a month or so. As you say, I was surprised by how long they lasted because I was expecting more like 2 weeks or so.
This is a good plant, I think.
The other one, with Jumbo Cooper x cooperi, the spikes never made it. It had total of three spikes, but they would all dry and die. I thought about tossing, but I decided to give it one more year.
All three spikes had tons of buds, so at least the cooperi's flowering power gene was definitely there!
They are both still maintaining the leaves. Strange.
and my Wine Delight is waking up.
I thought the windowsill where it sits is a bit too cold for it, but guess not. lol

I have a couple of short "nappers" that are starting to wake up already too.
I would definitely hold onto the other one for awhile and see what it does next go round. Even the 3 cycle of blooming. IME, the younger, first/second time bloomers are more prone to losing buds for one reason or another. I have a couple of first time bloomers blast buds this year...and it's not the first time it's happened. I do give all my plants an little "sip" once in awhile and since doing that I experience less bud loss w/the mature ones but those young 'uns like to sometimes be difficult. I call them rebellious teens...want to be adults but not quite mature enough and still throwing childish tantrums. LOL!
