Mormodes Flower Spike in dormant stage ??
so i have a Mormodes NY and recently the plant has entered the dormant stage about a month ago loosing all its leafs, which i thought it was doing a little early but needless to say i stopped watering it but when i went out to do my morning rounds i noticed a new flower spike growing out the bigger pseudobulb. Is this normal, should i start to water again? this will be the first time blooming this one for me, and i totally forget what the bloom is suppose to look like. thanks in advance for any help.

I would try and look up the parents of your hybrid to find out what they do. Some plants in this group bloom when they're dormant, and you're not supposed to water them heavily during dormancy.

Some bloom early in the development of the leaves, some bloom after the leaves have dropped and they've gone dormant, and then there are some that can bloom anytime in between those two times. And, there are some that will pop more than one spike and they'll do it at different times throughout the season. It's all over the map.
Watering = pay attention to the leaves and not the spike. No leaves = very sparingly to no water until you see new growths start up again.
My growing space is very dry and bright so I do water a little bit during dormancy = I drizzle a little water around the outside edges of the pot every 7-10 days. I do this to prevent too much shriveling but I know some people who don't give them a drop of water during that period. You'll have to do a bit of trial and error to find what works best for you and your growing space. Best to err on the side of caution while you learn.

I have a mormodes x clowesia hybrid and it blooms during the dormant stage. Water sparingly once leaves have dropped, even as the flower spike emerges.
