Default I just discovered that catasetums have triggers

Hi there!

I just posted a video of my Catasetum Karen Armstrong on my orchid channel, in which I experiment with the "pollen triggers" on the flowers. Thought it might be interesting/funny to watch XD

(Forgive my nervousness, I'm rather new to catasetums)

Thanks for the video, that is too funny!

Have a catasetum too, but didn't know how to 'trigger' the flower.

Let's just say... I've been pollenated!

I've been pollinated, my walls have been pollinated, my floor has been pollinated and if you don't see it right away it's very hard to get those little suckers off of things.

The biggest bummer in all of it is that once the pollinia is shot the flower will go down. I find most of the Catasetum flowers to be pretty short-lived anyway so I'm always disappointed when I accidentally trigger one.

Side note - Getting them to shows/meetings can be quite the challenge.

Never had my walls pollenated, but my carpet gets it often. Usually happens at night and I wonder if pollenating gremlins are the culprit?

You are a brave person to move a blooming catasetum anywhere. Let alone taking it for a ride in the car!
