It pays to have orchid friends who also like and grow this group...they are easy to divide and share. I'd say at least half of what I have has come from trading.

Maybe we should start a trading group. It could be a great way for those of us who love this group to expand our collections.

BTW - I've picked up some of my species from out of country vendors. I scour the big shows for their vendor listings and check out the vendor websites for lists or email them and ask for lists. Most are very accommodating and happy to ship the plants to you once they get into the US for the show. As a matter of fact, I am on several vendor mailing lists now so I get updated listings of when they'll be in the US and pre-order deadlines.

Trade Groups are good if you have plants to trade, which I don't.

It seems H&R has offered several species over the years.

It's a shame Pine Ridge isn't at full capacity. It appears they had quite an offering.

I don't see any Clowesia on ebay. Perhaps this isn't the season for purchasing divisions.

This is what orchid collecting must have been like before mericloning. lol

Honestly I rarely see clowesia on Ebay. There is a seller called hummingbirdhighway who has the most extensive selection of ctsm, but it is almost impossible to win an auction from him.

I have bid 5 times for 5 different listings of his "Jamie's white delight" ctsm. Pileatum and every time I'm outbid at the last second. Divisions of his plants are upwards of $80 anyways so be prepared to shell out big bucks if you go the route of Ebay.

There has never been a huge selection of Ctsm on Ebay no matter what time of year it is.

Like I said before, there aren't many options. I had to order internationally to get the species I wanted. If you think clowesia is hard to find, try looking for Mormodes, nearly impossible.

I won't have ctsm to trade until Fall anyways because many of my ctsm are in spike and I like waiting till they go dormant.

Unless there is some strange reason a plant can't wait, I like to do my repot/divisions w/this group in the late winter/early spring. I've had a couple of situations when I had to time it differently but it seems like I get less trauma/problems when I do it just before they are getting ready to break dormancy. Or, maybe it's just my imagination. Either way, it's when I try to do them so I'll keep this in mind for next year.

Bulbofet,
You shouldn't give away all your secrets. Now you have many more competitors. lol
I just searched for this vendor. He/She has a beautiful Clo Sandy Kasner (Cl dodsoniana x Ctsm Alexis Pardo) for sale.
Thanks for the tip.
What international vendors deal in Catasetinae?

I wish the seller was a secret, then maybe I could win one of his auctions for once. Instead they soar into the $100

I bought from Bela Vista orchids this year. I had a friend going to Redlands, and she was kind enough to pick up my order. Bela Vista had an amazing selection of species Ctsm and I went a little crazy on ordering lol.

Pretty much any nursery in South America is going to carry Ctsm. so you can blindly pick a name from a hat and they will have something. I'm sure others will chime in with international vendors they have purchased from.

Bela Vista/Antonio Schmit was where Stephen Moffitt got the plant he just had awarded.
I looked at an old sales list for Redlands. They have some pretty good prices on some rare species.
