new Gongora galeata

Today a member of our orchid society came by to give me a visit. And gave me a lovely gift, a Gongora galeata. She said that it had lovely blooms but did not last long at all. There is one old spike but another new one is coming. Can't wait to see the new blooms

Nice gift! Mine bloomed last June and again in November. Each bloom lasts only a few days, and the total blooming time of a spike is about 2 weeks. The scent isn't strong, but is very pleasant. The first day a bloom is open it has a spicy citrus fragrance, which changes to something that makes me think of an orange scented fabric softener. Enjoy!
