Default Stanhopea Chocolate Eyes

This is another of my stanhopeas that is blooming out of
season. The flowers don't have the usual brown eye spot. The last photo. is what the flowers usually look like.

Out of season and without eyespots, is there any chance you have two plants in there? If not, that's some serious variability between bloomings!

It's the same plant. I have had other stanhopeas bloom differently when they come inside after a cool wet summer and then bloom under lights. I never know what my Stan. assidensis 'John' for instance is going to look like from one year to the next. Some years it looks like 99% tigrina other years it looks more like a oculata hybrid. It depends on the temp. and light conditions that summer. All my plants have metal tags with stainless steel wires attached to them.
