When the leaves are gone...I water very, very little but I do drizzle a tiny bit of water around the outside edges of the pot every 7-10 days or so. Growing under lights and in a house w/the furnace running can be very drying so I give these and my other dormant terrestrials just a little drizzle every so often.
When in active growth...a lot of water and bright but indirect light.
I think part of my problem in the past has also been that I was buying very young plants. I'm talking barely out of flask. The ones that I'm now growing better were blooming size when I got them from Peruflora so while they were imported...they were stronger and I've been able to keep them alive and bloom them.
Recently, a friend gave me a couple of mature plants that she didn't want anymore so hopefully I'll continue to do well w/these too. I feel like I'm still very much a novice w/this group and I have a ways to go before I'll feel confident w/them. If I can successfully take them through 2 years of growth then I'll feel better about things.
I love these dormant ones for many reasons but one of them happens to be because they are very little work during the winter. Gotta love an orchid that just wants to be left alone for a few months each year and it rewards you for the neglect.
