Cycnoches Golden Showers
Here is a pic of my plant that is finally blooming. I believe this is the 4th inflorescence this plant put out this year. Something was eating them. I put out some roach motels and YES! I'm surprised how big the flowers are. For reference that is a 6" pot. All the leaves but one have fallen off.

Interesting that there are all these roots coming out of the inflorescence. Is that normal? Could I air layer that and make a keiki?

Awesome! Congrats! You must have taken excellent care of this orchid to bloom for the 4th time!

Yep, a 4 time bloomer in one year is pretty amazing! As for the roots, its not uncommon though I'm not sure you could get a keiki from the spike. Only one way to find out!

Good growing!
I think some of these guys get confused from time to time and the result is a spike w/roots. I've had it happen several times and it does seem to be a more frequent thing w/the female flowers.
Unfortunately, I don't think you'll get a keiki out of it. IME, they've always shriveled up and died back once the plant starts into dormancy.

This is the first time blooming. Something ate the inflorescence the 3 times before. I believe they were roaches and the roach motels worked. Here are some more pics. 4.5" across.

Probably female flowers. I have often seen roots from the base of a flowering stem, but never got a stronger bulb capable to grow.
