Two recently acquired plants. I think it is a stangeana, however differences between this species and claesii are not evident. Galeandras are best potted in small plastic pots and prefer warm places with high humidity.
I think that the medium is not the most important thing. I grow mine in sawdust/ clay pellet mix. I have bought them in fine bark, in shagnum, and in a stony mix like cactus. I do not prefer to grow them mounted. I think that small pots are more important, and spraying against mites.
I've also sent some Galeandras to orchid heaven, mostly unestablished plants from Brazil during wintertime.

Those that I've killed were not out of flask for long when I got them and the one that doing well was an imported clump but it was a more mature plant so likely stronger than the babies. Sounds like I just need to stick w/more mature plants. Thanks for the info...much appreciated.
