so the spike lasted at least 10 days before each flower started turning brown. But the big thing is that another spike has started to grow ! I just love this hybrid

Mine is starting to spike also. Should I water or w/hold water? The leaves are turning yellow.

I water roughly 1x per week. I make sure that the plant doesn't stand in water. In fact its in a pure bark mix so water drains off/through quickly. All my other cats are in a sphag/bark mix so that gives you an idea of how dryish they like it. My humidity indoors is around 50% +. If you are in a much lower humidity environment, you may have to water more than 1x per week.

soapy, turpentine, sweet.........very hard to pin down exactly. It wasn't unpleasant at all.

I haven't had this one over a winter. However, if its similar to other cats I would water infrequently if it kept its leaves and even less ( just to keep the bulbs plumpish ) if it lost its leaves. Apparently these are prone to rot so the important criterion is not to keep it damp
