Catesetum rescue
I have a catesetum which my husband bought from before my renewed orchid phase . Have learnt so much since, however, this catesetum from before the phase, had a very bad fungal attack. I had to remove the newest pseudobulb. I left the entire plant into dormancy, replanted it and left it alone. Nothing happened. The roots continued to look dry and dead but the old pseudobulbs were all still there and looking plump. Today, I repotted the entire thing. I cut off most of the roots (frankly, I didn't see any living ones!) but the psuedobulbs (at least 5) still look plump and big. I treated the roots and plant with fungicide and insecticide. repotted it in a smaller pot and am keeping my fingers crossed. Squirted it with half strength growth gaviota. Any advice anyone? Am I doing the right thing?

Can you post photos?
They should be starting to grow now if you're in the northern hemisphere.

I'm not sure what the weather is like where you are, and I am assuming you are in Singapore based upon your profile page.
I live in St. Louis, MO, USA. We have just started seeing spring growth outside and mine aren't doing anything yet either. However, there is a small bump growing on one of them as of this morning. If your weather conditions are similar to mine, it may be too early still.
I agree that pics would help.

I only have one (tenebrosa), but beginning November 1 I put it on the potting bench and do not water it until the new growth is about 1 inch long - March this year, Guess that is a long winded way of saying I believe they require a long, hard dry rest. I would let it be (no water at all) and wait until it begins to grow again.

Thanks all
It's dark now so I can take a pic. Will do tomorrow. It's tropical Singapore. Hot and humid all year round with more rain in some months. We don't have seasons. Just monsoons. . The plants just rest awhile and will give out new growths. Just haven't seen on this one and am getting paranoid I think.

Hi Debrasoon, i am from Malaysia. similar climate like yours. seems like you got nice healthy PB there.
suspected fungal infection then you trimmed all the roots, treat with fungicide and pesticide-----on the right track
potted the bulb---still ok
spray with gaviota ----not advisable, when there is no roots, no growth..they need minimal to no watering at all. wait for new growth and roots appear before resuming watering like what RHF suggested.
p/s: i like your avatar, a pileatum oro verde?

Ian is right. Do not water it until you see a five inches new plant come out. Or else you will rot the whole plant. Just control yourself and do not water....not even spray it....one inch new plant will rot if you water it...wait until it grows to at least five inches tall....and when it grows to five inches then water it and feed it fertilizer until it blooms. Then the cycle begins of dormancy to flower....

Thanks all. Ian. I know it's a pileatum but not if it is an oro verde! That plant is doing well! Bloomed twice from the same psuedobulb and whist it hasn't dropped its leaves yet, new shoot has already started.
