But it takes a lot of growing skills, expert knowledge and endeavours in specification to bring the story to this point. You earn my full respect. Thanks also for the posted drawings.
Hopefully this Cycnoches is as fertile as herrenhusanum, and plants are available for a broader market in a few years. This awesome species can easily win any orchid lover's heart.
i would also add Colombia to those countries, remember there are huge areas that are not explored yet in colombia due to the Guerrilla (Farc and ELN) i do hope that going to those areas can be possible in the near future.

i appreciate and treasure earning your respect, but keep in mind that luck has an important factor in here, i bought a cyc peruvianum , i grew it as any other of my cycnoches in here, and had the big surprise when George Carr and alexis Pardo told me what this was.

now the big task and responsibility is in front of me, as it is the only recorded living plant of this species in cultivation, (no pressure) i know there are (has to be) more out there, cant be the only one, but still , i will do my best with the help of experts to have this jewel available to as many people as possible. sadly this species needs the female, otherwise i would have at least 4 seed pods forming right now.

i do have the pollen ready and in storage. i hope to see female flowers out.

catasetum iam , thanks, it is part of the fun when you are into species, you enjoy their beauty, but also to help protect the species,

please if possible send me a private message, if you have the time i would like help from you , regarding the possibility of forcing female flowers on this one.

I'm going to create the group and invite you to.

It'll be open to all of course. It'll be for the "happy few" and those interested into preservation. I'm anxious to find some pollen for my Eclecticus chungii so it can have little babies.

That's the second big issue with rarities: we have the responsibility to make them grow and thrive, and moreover to have them perpetuate the species.

dear OB friends!

after researching more , i found out some discrepancies between the story below as how it was found ( Farnsworth Orchid )
and the living plant of farnsworthianum under my care. the first one is the Scent that supposedly this species emit, based on the observation , i can safely say that at least the one i have in bloom does not have the cigar scent described in the linked story. i have been observing it for a week (8 days tomorrow) and still nothing.

i finally took the flower samples that will be sent to Munich (Dr, Gunther) , united states. (George Carr) and some leaf tissue sample, for DNA analysis, and other complementary studies about this fascinating species.

the best mix to keep flowers is with alcohol and 5 to 10 % of glycerin ( to avoid flower brittle)

Attached some pictures

i hope the samples get there safe and sound.

Cheers!

Antonio.
