So, I recently acquired this Fdk. After Dark seedling and I'm unsure how I should proceed. It appears to be potted in a 2" or 2-1/2" pot in pure sphagnum. I THINK it is/headed towards dormancy because the leaves look rough but not sure.

Is sphagnum an appropriate medium? I generally steer clear of the stuff and use pure bark for my plants.

Also, does it look like I should be watering or holding off until I see a new psuedobulb forming? I'm unsure if this just never lost its leaves or what. Heh.

Bah! I never remember I need to take a photo horizontally with my phone to have it not be sideways when I post here.

I'd water it sparingly until leaves drop or new growth starts. And I really like sphagnum for catasetum and relatives.

Thank you. I was considering little to no water and your sparingly advice makes sense so yay. I shall leave it in sphagnum (for now) and just keep in mind that it doesn't dry as quickly as everything else.

I usually stop watering mid winter to encourage dormancy. Sphag is good for seedlings. I have adult plants in bark/CHC blend. They do well, you'll just have to water more often. Sphag is not my favorite either.

sphag has never been my favorite media for my ctsm but the choice of media is basically differs from one grower to another. you just have to pick one that suits your watering habits and microenvironment the best.
your plant's bulb is near to full maturity, i would do as recommended above, water sparingly.
