Are you able to grow them year round outside?
Especially Azteca ants have a reputation of being aggressive.
I appreciate Coryanthes but have never tried to grow them.

This should be a good one when it blooms again!

Corys are such bizarrely interesting flowers! Just wish the plants didn't get so big.

Well on the plus side, the ants should help keep pests away.

hey guys,

no smell that i can find on it, maybe because of the flower decaying?

the plants grow big, i plan to grow this one in the greenhouse, i believe (might be mistaken) this plant likes it hot.

and yes the ants are protecting the plant , i saw one ant in the pouch. no idea if the ant is the polinator?

are ants safe for orchids ? now need to figure that out. lol.

They tend to make the media in orchid pots really acidic, which is good for Coryanthes and not so good for many other orchids. As long as you don't mind the ants in your Cory, they shouldn't be a problem. However, if (when) they move to another pot, you might have a problem.
