Cycnoches Golden Showers HOF #2 Swan Orchid Cycnodes Catasetum Chysis Clowesia
Lost this plant at original bid last second. Seller sent me the email w pics of another of 8! That they had, sent me the second offer. Yep I took it. This is my first Cycnoches though...do they work (act like/require care) like catasetums? Or are they a whole different ball park. This one will be going dormant soon. Seller told me they stay warm and sunny in their green house so he usually has to put them outside for them to start sleeping. Wish I had that kind of luck....hehe.
Thanks in advance!
Oh attached is a picture of the flower pre sleep mode. I am very excited.

I have this orchid plant and I give it the same Catasetinae culture.
Bright light in the warm south facing window....no exposure to cold or frost ....no water at all unless you see a new growth to about 5 inches and then start the watering and fertilizer regimen.

They have a pleasant fruity scent when newly opened and when they are about to expire they exude that toilet mothball scent....

Cycnoches are identical to Catasetums in their culture. The pic you posted is of herrenhusanum, one of the parents of this cross. Enjoy!

I find the spiked looking growth over the stamine(?) Interesting. Reminds me of deformed hibiscus in a way.
