Do you make the crosses yourself? How about the flasking?

very nice, great color! My Mormodia Painted Desert is also from Elsner, the flowers are more open. Well, I must say I like yours just as well.

Yesterday I got a silver medal for growing this. But what makes me really thrilled was checking the International Orchid Register at RHS. Mormodia Painted Desert is by far the most important seed parent for Fredclarkearas !!
And indeed the underneath of the column has a wonderful sticky open cavity. I have rarely seen such an inviting female part of an Catasetinae flower. 3 flower stems - I had to do it with pollen of 3 different Catasetums.
There are some people who do the flasking. When germinated, raising is not that difficult.

I actually like the Tulip shape of flowers. Stripes are awesome. They sort of lead you to the center.....probably insects will follow the path and go in to pollinate the flower.Beautiful color as well.

My secret. But i can tell you that one is probably an undescribed new species. A friend gave me this pollen. Another reflexes the lip when fully open, so it might hopefully balance the cupped shape.
