i got an unid (yet) mexican mormodes/clowesia cant tell,
the plant formed a big strong Pbulb, and instead of a spike decided it was time to grow another Pbulb, kinda weird.

palm, I got mine some 2+ months ago. I read that Mormodes actually does usually bloom after dormancy. My plant came with still growing bulb, so I kept watering, shortly after I got it it started to grow the spike in November, that opened in December. The bulb itself has still leaves on, so I assume like my Catasetums it will start to loose the leaves after the spike is done flowering and I will give it rest be4 new growth. I have it in bright light, I did not fertilize it since I got it and I do water some one time a week. Not sure what is your plant cycle if it did not spike but started new growth.

There are two groups of Mormodes. The bigger group flowers after the new Pbulb has finished growth. The smaller group flowers when growing.
Mexican Clowesia rosea flowers towards the end of the rest period, normally around February. So do a lot of Clowesetum hybrids. Clowesia dodsoniana, glaucoglossa, russeliana, thylciochila flower in or at the end of growing season between August and October.
Maybe your plant was a bit out of rhythm. Try to reduce watering and fertilizing when the next pbulb has grown to 70 percent of maturity. Then give a cooler dryer rest period with lots of sunlight for 3 months.
You may post a photo of your plant, eventually showing the dried rest of an old flower spike. I am interested to see what it might be.
