nope, i grow it with charcoal media, same as most of my catasetums. but i may think this one may need slightly less watering (same goes for the denticulatum) than other robust catasetum counterparts,

yes indeed, the fragrance of this one is rather "sweet", unlike the conventional minty smell of most catasetums
