My Catasetum collection has recently expanded greatly and some of them are going mad!
Already had:
Cycnodes Wine Delight
Catasetum galeritum
Catasetum intergerrimum
Recently aquired:
3 lost tag plants (1, 4 and 7! 1 came from a different auction by the same seller)
Catasetum wendlingeri (pileatum x planiceps)
Catasetum sanguineum
Tiny seedlings she threw in for free:
Catasetum tabulare
Catasetum Orchidglade (pileatum x expansum)
And so total chaos! Some are going into dormancy, some are starting new shoots...
Wendlingeri: Came with one small mature pulb, and two shoots, the larger of which unfortunately got snapped off in the post. Not to complain... it's since started 3 more, one of them from the base of the other existing shoot which right now is only just beginining to unfurl leaves... The mature pulb is looking a little pale. Not surprised somehow. Hopefully it will put out more ROOTS soon lol.
My Wine Delight has a bump, which I think will probably be a spike. No problem there!
Sanguineum: came as two small pulbs, looking plump but dormant. Potted up and it's now got two small growths. Not sure what they are: it seems too small to flower (I don't think the biggest pulb is bigger than 2 inches... and I think it's supposed to be a large catasetum). But if they are shoots... what do I do with a plant with two shoots near the TOP of the pulbs!?! Not sure if I should replant it with the old pulbs lying down so the new roots have less far to go?!? Or do you think it will manage with it the normal way up?
Lost tag number 7 also has a growth (maybe two) starting which I think may well be a spike. Anyone want to take bets on what the plant is?
Here's a link to the auction page (I'd post my own picture... but it looks much the same except the leaves got bent in the post and are now dying off so it looks a lot tattier!)
PS: I'm currently eyeing up another set of auctions by another seller...
