Like, it's weird cuz they're taking in several times the volume of the p-bulb, in a relatively short period. I guess turning all the fluids into whatever they store in the p-bulbs is pretty expensive metabolically? And they're transpiring all that water out?

Also, I did a quick search, and apparently Charles Darwin munched on some catasetinae flowers, and he said that they "taste nutritious", haha

So I was checking on the ctsms today, and I noticed something that looked like mealeybugs on one of them. White, slightly powdery/fuzzy. Didn't get a good look at them before my reflexes had me reaching for the pesticide.

Oddly, worth noting, is that they were on the parental bulb for the current growths.

Just a notice that, although these guys are well-known for being generally pest-free, they CAN get them. Even if you're in the icy north of zone 7.

Great photo. I'd vote for scale. Get out the systemic! As well as spray... and again in a week and again in the week after that.

I see the two scale, but what are the masses of tiny white bugs at the bottom and left sides of the photo. Baby mealies?

Great photo by the way!

I'm suspecting larval scale. At any rate, need to be killed...
