i agree with what eplusia mentioned, let the plant be their own master.
my rules are simple,
leaf = water
and
no leaf = minimal/no water

Yeah well they have been watered still I just stretch it a little more because of the cold snap here and all mine sit in windows. So I dont want frozen roots.

FYI- Shrivelling of the bulb is a clear sign that the plant is lacking water and is not in dormancy mode. If it was going dormant it wouldn't shrivel because it wouldn't be using up its energy reserves. I'd hit it with water until it fattens back up.
