Actually the flowers on the black ones (Fredclarkeara) last closer to a month! You need to get one!!

Since its a complex hybrid, it seems pretty easy. I've only grown two of them though.

Did you get the Mestizos? Just looked it up and saw one looks really cool.
I currently have 3 (probably spelt wrong):
Cycnodes Wine Delight (seems very easy to me! Gave me a single flower last year when it should have been too young)
Catasetum interreginum: growing well. Hoping it will flower this year.
Catasetum galeritum: having a bit of trouble with it. I think it's out of the cycle I've been trying to grow it on and I'll just have to accept it wants to grow during my winter for now! Still it currently has 3 growths, if small ones!
I recently decided that wasn't enough and got involved in an online auction... seller had a load, many of them 'lost tag' plants. I got a great plant early on for a fair price, especially if it turns out to be something cool. Unfortunately I really needed to get something else to make the postage worth it and the prices started going a bit nuts! Late on I managed to pick up a plant listed as 'Wendling', probably because if you look that up nothing much comes up. But I managed to work out it's actually primary 'Wendlingeri'. Confirmed when I noticed the picture actually did show a tag on which 'pileatum x planiceps' could be made out. Most probably will have pretty dull flowers, but it made the postage worthwile!
Fingers crossed 'lost tag no 1' turns out to be something I actually want!

nice catasetum for the addition, especially the Mestizos.
and
Rowangreen, you got all the spellings correct except for the ctsm integerrimum and IMHO, one of the coolest looking one. i was hooked to it when i first saw the pic in internet.
as for x wendlingeri, it looks more like a planiceps except the sepals and petals are more outspread and not curving in to embrace the labellum like the planiceps.

Just saw one catasetum (I think it was cycnoches hybrid) at a botanical garden this week.
It looked just like mine, Cycnodes 'Golden Shower', except the color was rather olive green/copper tone and one spike has around 20 flowers! would love to get that one, whatever it was!

Black Pearl Catasetum and Mormodes hybrid
I have this one.
Fdk. After Dark ‘SVO Black Pearl’ FCC/AOS -
(Mo. Painted Desert ‘SVO’ HCC/AOS x Ctsm. Donna Wise ‘Kathleen’ AM/AOS)
Pure black in the shade but very dark purple / magenta if the sun shines through the flowers. Last season it had around 40 or so flowers and they lasted for about 3 months. Fred (SVO) has some of the best plants on the planet!
