Catasetum osculatum Male
Default Catasetum osculatum

A species from Central Amazonia - Rondonia. The plant has adapted now to the northern hemisphere. Only 3 flowers now, another spike with 2 more is on the way. It will get more loving care and fertilizer.

Really nice flower, is this one of those that will bloom in the beginning of new growth and still mature, since you still will fertilize it?

It has not yet formed a strong bulb and the growing season goes til October, and often the bulb ripens til December and leaves fall off in January.
The Catasetums started new growths in April. My observation is that strong fimbriatums, which had a good year, flower in September. If the year was not so ideal, but next season starts good, they make up leeway in July.
