catasetum atratum x purum, male and hermaphrodites

[catasetum-ian]

two spike on this plant, one with entire male flowers while the other with mixed hermaphrodites. this mixted spike initially was forming a female spike; can tell by the more erected spike, with a fatter peduncle. unfortunately the sunny season is coming to an end, during the later half of the spike formation, the weather was cloudy and rainy. thus giving the rise of the hermaphrodite.....i guess

Its not often such a diverse set of flowers come on a single spiking event. Thats really cool!
