Coming from Peru, this is one of the most beautiful Catasetums I've ever seen.

I've never seen this one before and I love it! It looks like has a small plant. How tall does it get with leaves?

it is a small plant , (judging by the size of my mature bulbs on mine)

As for the plant size: I do have a copy of the original description of Dodson & Bennett in Icones Plantarum Tropicarum, but it would be much effort to dig it out.
The bulb size is average, so I guess the plant size would be the same.
And there is no significant scent.
In fact I purchased 3 plants of Ctsm. schunkei 2-3 years back and had enormous problems to start them growing well ( I can say that I am not a newbie and relatively familiar with growing Catasetums). I lost most , only one small plant from this purchase survived and is doing fine now.
When I met Manolo Arias again this year in April, I was scared of spending more money for a difficult growing species and bought what seemed a strong plant with 4 bulbs labelled Ctsm. stevensonii.
Instead of starting a new lead, the bulbs started to flower and it turned out to be Ctsm. schunkei.
All I know is that in nature schunkei keeps a long rest period of 4-5 months. But normally Catasetums don't flower from a leafless bulb.

will take pics of mine, cause what mine is doing is growing and sending out roots as any other typical catasetum.

i have not seem mine flowering, maybe my plant is mis-labeled ?

thanks for sharing your experience

Hi Antonio, as your growing conditions will be completely different from mine, you will easily get another experience. No matter what, this species is stunning.
