I have a tray of 6 or so that are all dried up and nothing left of them...but refuse to throw them out as yet and keep checking for signs of life. Should just cut my losses, pull the tags and re-order when possible.

Ok, Ian, have divided into 3 categories... 1. Alive and possibly will bloom 2. not good but potential to live and 3. Dead...ish....should throw out. No sign of life.

ok, totally agree.
first group...alive and most likely to bloom
the second pic, the one on the left of pic looks good

the last pic, some are too small to be seen, but here is what you could do. tear away the white membranous sheath, if you see green shriveled bulb in there, there is hope, but if you see yellow or brown, in the bin it goes.

IMHO, if you want to use sphag, it is easier if you had them in clay. good luck
