Congrats!!!
Hey, how do you grow yours? Is it bare root? Looks like it is to me, but thought I'd ask.

This one is bare root, but its just because its really old (passed on from fiancees parents) and I think the growing medium has just slowly broken away. I have another in a basket lined with coconut fibre.
Bare root is good if u can water them everyday as they can flower freely

Ooooh... I may give that a whirl then. I have mine in a wooden hanging basket but I've been wondering about wire since it may be blocking spikes. It should have flowered for me this year, but it didn't that I could tell.
Anyway, congrats again! Can't wait to see the blooms!!!

Cool so a bit of an update... I was expecting it to pop open today but it looks like its actually dividing into 2 separate flowers.
I'll keep updating pics til it actually flowers.

I love the fragrance of Stanhopea, though it is pretty strong in some of them.

It's amazing how they generally grow pretty slowly until flowering... now everyday its just getting bigger and bigger.
When it has flowered, some help on ID for this plant would be much appreciated!
