This plant came from the collection of Ray McCullough, past president of the A.O.S.
This year It has nine flowers and has had up to thirteen in the past.
The fragrance isn't all the great. It's a mix of mothballs and camphor.
That's a shame about the scent, but the flowers are still stunning. And it's quite fascinating to realize that somewhere in the rainforest there's a pollinator that finds the combination of mothball and camphor scent to be compelling.
Beautiful!
I had a stanhopea wardii and it had an overly powerful strong scent. It was nice if you only got a tiny whiff of it, but I had to get rid of it because it was too strong.
