All of July has been in the high 90's with a week over 100degrees. Many of my stanhopeas have aborted spiks or have not opened all the way.
Stan. Jungle Cat is nigripes (not longipes) X tigrina. This year one of the petals on each flower is fused to the columm probably causted by the excessive heat when the buds were forming. The fragrance is a mixture of cinnamon, orange and chocolate. This is the first year Top Dog as been wounded.
Wow, too bad about the heat and the effect on your plants. Is that normal for this time of the year?
The flowers are so neat. It's really interesting how orchids display the effects of the growing conditions as displayed by the change in your flowers development and others like color, size etc.
