Default Gongora scaphephorus

This is one of my favorite orchidspecies and i can not stop wondering about the shape of the flowers. It is the first time it is flowering for me and there is four spikes.

This one is large and the oldest spike is over 70 cm. long, so it need some space.

Thank you
The weather here is really cool at the moment and i think it might affect the scent on the flowers.
They are fragrant according to IOSP.

Beautiful blooms, Inger. Although IOSP isn't always accurate, in this case, with regard to the scent, they're correct. You should detect a wonderful fragrance within 48 hours of the blooms opening (the blooms on my plant have a strong piņa colada fragrance) Congratulations on your flowers.

Steve

Steve, there is a strong scent in my greenhouse at the moment . I do look forward to the other three spikes to be in flower....
And it did take about 48 hours before the flowers had a scent.
I always search IOSP and Botanical Garden Munich - Dr. Gerlach - The Subtribe Stanhopeinae - RBO to be sure that i have the correct id/nametag on my orchids, when they bloom.
IOSP says that the spike is 40 cm. long, but the oldest on my orchid is 70 cm. I might have been overfeeding it with too much ferteliser or IOSP might be wrong on that point........

i think 40 cms may be an average length. when i first saw this plant it was at a local expo and the spikes where easily 1.5 meters long
